The success of a team building retreat
At Sahihi, we care about team work. we care about working together with a common goal of producing the quality results for our clients.
In order to maintain this culture, we always have to retreat from our busy schedules to reconnect, review our progress and re- strategize as individuals and as a team.
This year, we headed out to Malindi for a few days. Our main objectives were to spend time together, outside of work and have some fun.
Group activities
Reconnecting as team is very important for our company. It allows us to see the other side of a colleague, which is less busy, and in a different setting altogether.
1.Team Building
Our theme for this activity involved problem solving through technical and facilitation approach.
Teamwork is a simple principle of humanity that has empowered generations to accomplish tasks at hand. Amazing insights are discovered when a group takes a break from the usual work cycle to engage and build relationships outside of the walls of their offices. We managed to achieve this through collective activities and taking the time to learn more about each other, and at the same time having fun.
Lessons from team building;
· A competitive spirit will boost our performance and results.
· Success is a result of proper planning.
· Communication and concentration to detail is key to successfully handling delicate situations.
· Importance of commitment — building a sense of ownership and responsibility on tasks at hand will always boost our morale for best outcome.
· Being a leader requires commitment and humility.
· Seek to understand before setting out and starting an activity.
· Avoid diverting too much attention to competitors.
· Fear of failure should not be a barrier to taking on a challenge.
· Learn not to celebrate a competitor’s downfall.
· Take things easy and enjoy the experience.
2.Site Seeing
Malindi Beaches and Marine Park
From swimming with zebra fish to windsurfing, this beautiful slice of Malindi’s coastline was simply breath taking. The park is endowed with magnificent resources such as fringing reefs, coral gardens in the lagoons, sea grass beds, mangroves, mudflats, marine mammals, turtles and various species of shorebirds. We were treated to glass bottom boat rides, snorkeling, sea food and beach walks in this veritable paradise.
Spending time together out of the office was extremely worthwhile for us. A good team is built through working together, but a great team is built through working together and enjoying a great time together.
